The Crash

Going days — sometimes weeks — with no pain, no sign of chronic illness.
You start to wonder if maybe you’ve finally been “cured.”
Or worse… maybe it really was all in your head.
You soak up every moment.
You push yourself past your normal limits simply because you can.
Then it happens.
The first twinge of pain that wasn’t there before.
You ignore it.
You don’t panic.
You tell yourself it will fade as quickly as it came.
I feel better. There will be no flare.
An hour passes.
The pain hasn’t faded.
It has intensified.
Spread.
The alarms begin to sound.
This can no longer be ignored.
The flare is back.
The pain is back.
The weakness is back.
The need to prove your invisible symptoms is back.
That sudden shift — from happy, full of energy and life —
to pain and exhaustion…
There is only one word for it.
Crash.
A mental and physical collapse no one can ever truly prepare for.
